It’s too early to make assumptions about what the record will or won’t be, but there are a few things I’m pretty sure of:
1) It’s most probably be an EP
2) May contain a co-write — or two
3) And will be produced by Dan Barrett (Porter Davis & Red Leaf School of Music co-founder), about which I am so pleased.
There are a few working titles and an early design thought, so the idea is the aesthetic will inform the music.
The biggest thing — and what makes this record different from others I’ve been a part of — is the music isn’t there yet. Like, as in, starting from nothing. Nada. Zilch. (gulp). In the past I’ve always gone into the record-making process with tracks in hand and work pretty much cut out. This time I’ve got writing to do. Big time. So right now it’s all about process, process, process, fine-tuning and oiling it well, and then crossing fingers, tossing a pinch of salt over shoulder and praying to the sweet Lord for some sort of prolifery.
